I love me some high fashion. I think fashion is the art of the human body, more so than tattoo. It can be changed evolved twisted and turned. One person who I think is a evolutionary step up in the fashion rung is Designer Joanne Petit-Frere.
Kaos Blac: WHO ARE YOU? WHAT DO YOU DO?

Joanne Petit-Frere: Who am I? Well I'm not at a place where I feel I can constrict myself to what I do, I'm just doing me. Me right now, is working on a jewelry series of sculptures called COMOTROOVAYSA....me always, is creating and taking part in work I believe in and feel great about.

Kaos Blac: HOW DO YOU PERCEIVE FASHION AS AN EXTENSION OF SELF?
- Styled by Stacy Armand
- Style: Vintage Leather tube dress worn as neck piece / Belt chain worn as necklace / Vintage Black wool poncho
Fashion is all around us. The term 'fashion' is a general term and applies to any way of dressing, behaving, writing and performing. Especially when it comes to clothing and personal style, I think your fashion is definitely an extension of yourself.... It can really say a lot about a person; anywhere from the aspirations of an intern in a navy business suit, to a woman's confidence in a neon skintight dress or even a greying man deciding to continuously dye his thinning hair, its all about their individual perceptions..I think whether or not you're 'conscious' and follow fashion's trends....there still exist its function and your decisions what to do with it functionally still says something about you.
Kaos Blac: WHAT IS THE ONE ITEM YOU CAN'T DO WITHOUT?
- Style: Black Frames- St.Mark's place / Vintage Navy Blue Pilot's Blazer -- photography by Boogie (www.artcoup.com)
Joanne Petit-Frere: I don't own a pair of prescription glasses because of my strong prescription (ThICK ThICK lenses)and so the one item I can't do without would have to be my contacts. The world's a messy blur w/out them.
Kaos Blac: WHO DOES YOUR HAIR?
- Style: Vintage Party Collectibles Sequin jacket / Zara stripe dress
Joanne Petit-Frere: I started doing my own hair in middle school. My mom couldn't braid my hair in the 'cool' styles I wanted so I've been experimenting and doing it ever since.
Kaos Blac: WHERE DO YOU SEE 'FASHION' GOING, IN RESPECTS TO THE EFFECTS ON MASS APPEAL WITH THE CURRENT IDOLIZATION OF PEOPLE LIKE LADY GAGA, EBONY BONES, AND KANYE WEST?
Joanne Petit-Frere: Hmm...It's kinda hard to say...but I remember Gaga in the beginnings of her popularity and reading headlines for Fashion week about her influencing the latest Couture collections. I didnt think she 'influenced' what the designers were making but really the other way around. In her song 'Fashion' she says "..fashion put it all on me / don't you wanna see these clothes on me / fashion put it all on me / I am anyone you want me to be..." She's essentially a model. I think her ability to take head-to-toe looks from runway to her everyday thru performance (on and off stage) is a big part of why so many people love her or at least pay attention. Even Kanye's design collaboration with Louis Vuitton when he was rocking it before as just a fan, shows the selling of this idolization THRU fashion...but not really affecting fashion as a whole or its direction with a guest collaboration or as a model.

Amazing article/interview. She is very inspiring. I loved her video on StyleLikeU, what a unique and interesting person. I appreciate that she embraces who she is, and expresses that in creative and amazing ways. So cool!
