When the Brooklyn boys come home.

When TV On The Radio plays Brooklyn it's more like a bunch of sailors pulling into home port than the 100th stop on a million city tour. You're as likely to be standing next to their friends, like Kanye West, as a ironically outfitted art rocker from no-wheres-ville that will never get his sea legs in the big city. The band's slowest dirge is still a wall of frenetic sound, every instrument indecipherable from the next, backed by keyboards that belch Dave Andrew Sitek's copy-written static.



Brooklynites, long spoiled by free summer concerts like TVOTR's 2007 gritty show at the McCarren Pool in Williamsberg, paid for an elaborate light show and large patchwork backdrop giving the perfect scenery for Tunde's body whips, Gerard Smith's wolf blanket and Kipps enigmatic stage presence.

Your hood is not that hood...

Every other day coming home to my "room" in Bed Stuy, I exit out of the subway station only to be greeted by at least one, if not multiple, pit bulls waiting for me with spiked collars and chain leashes. They're always owned by some random young light weight guy, half the size of his pet, struggling to keep his jaw locking beast under control.
In other words; he's not walking the dog, the dog is walking him!

But just when I thought my hood was hood I came across this...


Yep, you saw right. That's a hyena and a baboon.

According to the photographer, Pieter Hugo, these men are in the middle of Lagos, Nigeria. (A huge major fucking city for those of you that think Africa is all jungles and bush!) They have created a method of taming extremely dangerous and wild animals as part of a family animal handling tradition. They keep hyenas, pythons and baboons as pets and perform with them for money. The animals are so tame that they let their children play with them.

(Note: you don't see hyenas or baboons at the circus or animal shows because those shits are not able to be tamed like lions or bears are! Imagine how wild you have to be to out do a lion.)

So to the light weights in unfitted fitteds that can't control your measly ass pit bulls, YOU ARE THE LESSER PET OWNER!

A table for two in the Psychochamber...

If you ever get a chance to spend time in Tamar Kali's Psychochamber you won't want to leave. Her performance at the Irondale Center in Brooklyn, NY literally moved audience members to tears. The 6 member all female string ensemble hauntingly translated her rock repertoire into sharp melancholy orchestral odes of hard living, anger and love.




I don't say lightly that Tamar-Kali has one of THE voices of our times. Moving from soulful crooning to rock growls to operatic hollers, she puts what some people today call singing to shame and all while conducting an ensemble. Tamar doesn't get the press and prestige she deserves. See her now while you can afford to because who knows when this star will shoot.

Zoe's got a band....

As the spawn of the rebellious "Cosby Show" actress Lisa Bonet and retro 70's rocker Lenny Kravitz, Zoe Kravitz has always been destine for the spot light in one way or another. She's tried acting like her mom and grandmother and now she's giving the other family trade a try with her band Elevator Fight.

You may be wondering if Elevator Fight just the fleeting fancy of another celebrity child for your ears to gag on? Their single "Lit" makes me think maybe not. It's electro-pop/punky mix is catchy enough to make me move my narrow behind, which is hard to do these days.

The band also includes bassist Khari Mateen, who has played with Fishbone, J Davey and produced cuts on the Roots album "Rising Down." Their debut performance last month at Silk City in Philly was packed with voyeurs and curious music lovers alike. They'll be touring on the east coast according to their Myspace with dates in Philly, DC, and NYC during May and June.

So I went out to Trash on Friday night with my friends Rape Whistle and Brooklyn's fire,



To check out the party. It was dope as usual tons of random nakedness....ok mostly my own....

Elsewise the party was full of the usual pussy on the floor just hanging around. It's a good mix of hipster ho/s trans AMs/ club kids with SIDS/...PERFECTLY NORMAL !! Perfectly TRASH!!!!!!
