Featuring Tamar-kali with the Psychochamber Ensemble, Marni Rice, Marco The Magician, Maine 'The Maine Attraction' Anders, Mariel Berger, and Kiebpoll Calnek.
With this performance, Tamar-kali is working from a history of cabaret but promoting a little known, and neglected Black presence. She is re-writing the book on cabaret, presenting it in an innovative and contemporary context, with original script, music and in an atmosphere thematically designed for the event. Tamar-kali has been performing at Harlem Stage for over 10 years periodically. Most recently as the Spring 2010 as music director for Black Rock Coalition’s Nina Simone Tribute, the launch of Cabaret Chocolat in November of 2009 and earlier in the decade at Aaron Davis Hall on two occasions.
